The central goal of the DeepVR project is the development of a Virtual Reality (VR) based acute therapy and relapse prophylaxis support software for unipolar depression disorder.

The intended use cases cover both the use in supervised therapy sessions and the unsupervised use in a home scenario. Personalised scenario parameters and levels can be directly adapted to the patient’s linguistic and cognitive abilities via therapist control software. This allows the reduction of gaps in care for patient collectives such as migrants and seniors that have been difficult to reach up to now.

Furthermore, a therapist reporting module records direct and indirect depression symptoms such as mood and activity level of the patient and calculates early indicators of the risk of recurrence on the basis of deep learning algorithms. In multicenter pilot studies, the suitability for everyday use, robustness and user acceptance of the overall system for inpatient and outpatient applications are ensured.

The DeepVR project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
